Summer 2025 Newsletter

October 1, 2025

This summer has been filled with what we love most – visiting with many of you in the tasting room and at events. It has also been a season of meaningful progress, from the vineyard’s steady march toward harvest to the grafted vines thriving in the sunshine at the estate. The long-awaited 2023 vintage made its debut, and we were thrilled to share it with many of you at our Fall Release Party. As we reflect on these highlights and move into fall, we’re grateful to have shared this memorable season with you.

2025 Vintage Update

The 2025 Paso Robles vintage is unfolding with tremendous potential, and we couldn’t be more excited. A cooler spring slowed the start of the season, but moderate summer warmth helped the vines catch up beautifully, developing healthy canopies and balanced fruit. Veraison began in early August, painting the vineyards in shades of red and purple, and on September 2nd, we officially welcomed harvest with our first pick of Sauvignon Blanc. We harvested our first red varieties for the L’Essor rosé shortly after and the first picks for our red wines began to steadily come in towards the end of September.

Yields this year are looking average to slightly above, but with smaller berries that hint at incredible concentration and depth of flavor. Careful work in the vineyard - crop thinning, leafing, and canopy management - has set the stage for wines that will carry both richness and finesse. We are thrilled to see the potential slowly begin taking shape.

Though these wines are just beginning their journey, the promise of the 2025 vintage is already clear. We look forward to watching them evolve in the cellar, and to sharing them with you in the years to come.

Estate update: the grafts are thriving

One of the most exciting projects at BENOM this year has been the progress at our York Mountain estate. This spring, we grafted our estate vineyard to 14 different varieties. The vineyard is now home to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carignan, Mencìa, Sauvignon Blanc, and more - all carefully chosen to thrive in the soils and microclimate of this site.

Throughout the summer, we’ve been thrilled to see the grafts take beautifully, their canopies thriving under the warm sun. Establishing a vineyard is a slow, deliberate process, and every season plays an essential role. The coming year will bring our first small harvest—a symbolic milestone that will offer an early glimpse into the vineyard’s character. By 2027, we expect our first full harvest, which will allow us to craft estate-grown wines that truly express York Mountain’s unique terroir.

For us, this project is more than just a vineyard. It’s the realization of a long-held vision. To stand in the rows and see the vines thriving is both humbling and exciting, and we can’t wait to bring you along on this journey. Whether you join us in the tasting room or walk the vineyard with us one day, we look forward to sharing the future of BENOM with you!
